He can never support a scene by his lonesome, and he's an absolute bore on his own. This is partly because he just doesn't have enough personality to stand on his own leg, and his naivety gag only really works in a group. Really? What about Red Ribbon Army Arc, where it focuses 99% on Goku showcasin his adventurous, naivety (trainin with Karin Sama for Holy Water) & overall personality (doing whats right even if its for benefit of others: going after RRA's Base to retrive the DB's to revive Upa's father) Maybe you watched Eng Dub, cuz I always get turned-off by his raspy voice Nozawa however magnifies his manga character manyfold with soul & enthusiasm injected in every line No, I'm being serious I've never even watched the dub, sub, or anime of Dragon Ball. I've only ever read the manga. It's literally the reason why I consider the Red Ribbon Arc to be the worst arc out of the entirety of Dragon Ball itself, simply because Goku just can't stand on his own legs in terms of personality (its the reason why my favorite parts in that arc are because he's interacting with other people).
